The Century Foundation (TCF), is a progressive, independent think tank, seeking a policy associate to join the health care team, providing research and organizing support for TCF’s work on maternal health and related issues of health coverage, health disparities, and reproductive rights and justice. 


TCF’s Health Care Program provides analysis and recommendations about how to improve health care in the United States. Our work investigates ways to expand access to health care for all Americans, make health care more affordable and efficient, and close health care gaps for women and people of color. 


The associate is based in Washington, DC and will work closely with TCF health care director and senior fellow Dr. Jamila Taylor. They will engage in research and communications to support stronger policies and programs to address racial disparities in health care. 


Duties:

  • Researching health care policy and maternal health topics identified by TCF health care fellows and preparing background memos. 
  • Assisting with outreach to allied organizations and to federal oversight agencies and policy makers. 
  • Assisting with organizing events and meetings.
  • Occasionally writing commentaries, reports, and social media content.
  • Participating in selected coalitions focused on health care, reproductive rights/justice, maternal health, and related issues.
  • Assisting with scheduling and administrative support. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Exceptional research and analytical skills. 
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Apps. 
  • Demonstrated interest in state, federal, and local governmental policy-making processes.
  • Strong commitment to reproductive rights and justice, health equity, and other progressive values as consistent with TCF’s health care research agenda.


Preferred:

  • Background in political science, public health, public policy, and/or women’s/gender studies.
  • One to two years of experience in a public policy or research position. 
  • Previous experience working on maternal health, health equity, and/or reproductive health, rights, and justice issues.

This is a full-time position in our Washington D.C. office with a minimum salary of $58,500. TCF is currently working remotely. All TCF staff are required to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination.
